NEW YORK, NY, November 11, 2008: Morgan Lewis today announced the addition of Claud “Lex” v.S. Eley as a partner in its Business and Finance Practice, resident in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Eley spent a decade living and practicing in Europe—eventually heading the Brussels offices of two large firms—and brings more than 25 years of international transactional and corporate experience to Morgan Lewis. His arrival reflects the firm’s continued commitment to developing its international transactional and corporate practice in order to meet its clients’ growing cross-border needs.
Mr. Eley focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and business transactions. He has experience advising U.S., European, and other international clients, ranging from startups to private equity firms to Fortune 500 companies, in every aspect of the conception, planning, negotiation, and execution of investment strategies. Mr. Eley’s recent experience includes assisting companies from countries with emerging economies—including various Russian companies—in transactions with U.S. corporations.
In connection with private equity transactions, Mr. Eley has assisted clients with a variety of financing alternatives, including secured and unsecured credit facilities and debt or equity offerings. He has also developed and implemented various exit strategies enabling clients to monetize their investments, including mergers, divestitures, and public offerings, and he has implemented various corporate restructurings, reorganizations, and recapitalizations.
Drawn by Morgan Lewis’s commitment to the continued growth of its international practice—as well as the depth and breadth of the firm’s capabilities in a number of areas, including finance and fund formation—he joins a Business and Finance team that already spans the United States, Europe, and Asia, with nearly 400 transactional lawyers who focus on a wide variety of areas, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, finance, and capital markets.
