Eric Namrow has more than 25 years of experience representing clients in high-stakes intellectual property (IP) litigation. Eric is the leader of the IP practice in the Washington, DC office and chairs the firm’s practice before the US International Trade Commission (ITC). He has litigated more than 100 ITC investigations, including more than 40 that have gone through trial. Eric is currently the President of the ITC Trial Lawyers Association.
Eric was named among DC’s IP Litigators of the Year by Managing IP for 2023, and Global Intellectual Property magazine named Eric among a handful of “international IP specialists” who have “an absolute command of the relevant technology” and “the ability to explain complicated science in a straightforward, simplified manner.” Legal 500 describes Eric as “a superstar IP lawyer and well respected by the staff at the ITC.” IAM Patent 1000 notes that Eric “maintains an unrelenting focus on the business interests of his clients” and that he “relishes the high-level contact” with company boards. The firm’s practice before the ITC, chaired by Eric, was named as the 2023 ITC Practice of the Year by Managing IP.
Eric has experience litigating IP cases in the ITC and district courts across the United States as well as appeals to the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court. He represents clients in a range of technologies and industries and has litigated and tried patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. At the ITC, Eric has handled dozens of cases through trial and Commission review, and he has a deep understanding of the unique rules and practice in this particularized forum.
Eric likewise has experience in related proceedings before Customs and Border Protection, the Federal Circuit, and the Court of International Trade. He also regularly litigates IP cases in US district courts throughout the United States and has taken many such cases through jury verdict and appeal. Eric regularly speaks and writes on IP and ITC-specific issues and has taught IP law as an adjunct professor.
As the leader of the IP practice in the Washington, DC office—the largest IP group across the firm’s global offices—Eric is responsible for more than 50 lawyers, patent agents, and other professionals. IAM Patent 1000 has recognized that Morgan Lewis’s “star is on the ascendant at the ITC” and praised the fact that Eric is “[t]aking charge of a dedicated and highly specialized Section 337 crew.”
Eric is also active in the firm’s pro bono practice and has handled cases in areas ranging from child welfare, landlord tenant, prison reform, to entertainment. Eric is also involved in his community, serving on the boards of local schools and religious charitable organizations.
